Invest in WESTern Party
Thank you everyone for a fantastic Invest in West campaign! We didn't make our full goal, but we got really close. And we had a fun time doing it! There was line-dancing, BBQ eats, and bull-riding fun for all. PTSO did a wonderful job. Thank you again for all your hard work.
For the grade level competition, 7th grade raised the most money and will be getting a pizza party in the coming weeks! Congratulations!

Halloween Costumes
Tuesday is Halloween and students will be allowed to wear costumes with some guidelines. As long as costumes are not offensive, then the following criteria are all that apply:
- No masks or faces covered with makeup
- Hats and hoods are only allowed if they go with an actual costume
- No props allowed, or anything that does not attach to the costume.
Let's have fun while still getting schoolwork done!

Belmont University’s 7th Annual Middle School (6th – 8th grade) Poetry Contest
We are happy to announce that Belmont University’s 7th Annual Middle School (6th – 8th grade) Poetry Contests are underway and will run through Friday, December 1, 2023.
Once the poems have been received, they will be catalogued and have all identifying information removed so all the judges will see will be the poem and its title. The Belmont English Club and their faculty advisor serve as judges and will pick the top five poems for each contest from all those submitted. Those poets, five 6th – 8th graders, will be invited to Belmont’s campus in February to work with professional songwriters to set their poems to music and then the songs and poems will be posted online for folks to hear and see and then vote for their favorite song.
For a look at last year’s contest winners, check out https://www.belmont.edu/sl/events/family_literacy_day/poetry-contests.html. The five finalists in each contest and their teachers will receive cash prizes with each prize split evenly between the poet and their teacher. First place winners will share $500, Second place winners will share $300, Third place winners will share $200 and Fourth and Fifth place winners will each share $100.
Winners of the 6th – 8th grade contest will be announced at a reception on the Belmont campus on either April 15th or 16th, 2024.
Teachers have access to additional Contest Entry Forms and one is attached below.
Best of luck to all our Blue Jays!
