Consequences for Unpouched Cellphones
Every student has a Yondr pouch to lock away their phone during the school day. Any student phones found unpouched are subject to confiscation and the following Discipline policy. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by administration prior to phone confiscation.
1st Offense
The phone will be collected and secured in the office. A discipline referral will be entered (Code 203). A parent/guardian will be notified the day of the infraction. Phone will be given back to student for first offense.
2nd Offense
The phone will be collected and secured in the office. A discipline referral will be entered (Code 203). A parent/guardian will be notified the day of the infraction. A parent or guardian must come to school to retrieve the device. Phone will not be given back to students.
3rd Offense
The phone will be collected and secured in the office. A discipline referral will be entered (Code 300). A parent/guardian will be notified the day of the infraction. A parent or guardian must come to school to retrieve the device and for a parent meeting. Phone will not be given back to students.
4th Offense
The phone will be collected and secured in the office. A discipline referral will be entered (Code 300). A parent/guardian will be notified the day of the infraction. A parent or guardian must come to school to retrieve the device. Phone will not be given back to students. One-day In School Suspension for repeated violations.
5th Offense
The phone will be collected and secured in the office. A discipline referral will be entered (Code 415). A parent/guardian will be notified the day of the infraction. A parent or guardian must come to school to retrieve the device. Phone will not be given back to students. Administration reserves the right to pursue a suspension from school for repeated violations.
Escalation
Any form of aggression related to the cell phone policy, toward any adult in the building, will not be tolerated and could lead to an escalated consequence regardless of offense. This includes:
- refusing to surrender your phone to an adult upon request
- escalating conversations concerning device usage (using demeaning or profane language)
- engaging in any other behavior that could be deemed as disruptive to the educational environment.

Restroom Policy
Since there was some concern about our revised restroom policy, we wanted to give some more information. It is actually pretty flexible. The major issue that surfaced was the number of students leaving the classroom during instructional time, and there were additional issues that stemming from that behavior.
What is being asked of students is that they stay in the classroom for their classes, so that they do not miss key instructional time. Classes are, at the most, 55 minutes. The students have the following times to take care of bathroom, water, and locker needs:
- Before School
- 1st to 2nd Period Transition
- 2nd to 3rd Period Transition
- 3rd Period to Recess Transition
- During Lunch
- Lunch to 4th Period Transition
- 4th Period to Related Arts Transition
- Related Arts to 6th Period Transition
- After School
Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule and all of the teachers know when an emergency is an emergency. In those situations, teachers will use their discretion to ensure our students needs are met.
Hopefully, this sheds some light on the situation and provides some understanding for the justification for the new policy. If you have any additional questions, let us know!
